Changing tourism models and co-branding

News and views not to be missed: some days ago, yet again another warning about Barcelona World was issued here. BCN World is a very tempting project indeed. And even more tempting in the middle of our crisis. But it's a project based on speculation: finance and real estate are again together, and we said not too long ago "never-but-never-again" to this type of economy. How quick we forget our purposes, as if they were the New Year's Purposes!

Another journalist warns here about Barcelona being "over-used" by tourism and claiming for another model, away from the quantity and closer to the quality.

Finally, Pau Morata, lecturer and writer about tourism, puts forth some very interesting views about Barcelona and co-branding: like it or not, Barcelona is a powerful brand spilling over the city's boundaries and onto the surrounding territories. And why shouldn't these territories profit from such a powerful brand? Mr. Morata's views can be read here

PS 23/April/2014 - And yes, Easter has been a big success in terms of tourism. Read the news here.
